The Coalition’s mission is to educate people about their rights under the prohibition of torture, and to give those who advise and represent them the documents that make those rights usable. A project is how that work is organised. Each one takes a single subject and sets out, in one place, the law that governs it, what the public record shows, where the sources are, and what remains undecided.
A project is a reference, not a campaign. It describes; it does not instruct. Where the law is settled, the project says so and cites the authority. Where a court has decided nothing, the project says that too, because a reader who is told a question is settled when it is not will lose trust in everything else on the page. Every report, case and instrument a project relies on carries a link to the source, so that nothing has to be taken on the Coalition’s word.
